Toms River police are searching for a man that robbed the Ocean First bank on Bananier Drive Monday afternoon.

The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after handing a teller a note placed in a black folder at about 12:35 p.m., said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

The suspect is described as 5 foot 8 inches tall, about 175 lbs., with short brown hair and a five o’clock shadow, the chief said. He was wearing a blue/grey long sleeve shirt, red baggy pants and a faded New York Yankees baseball hat.

The suspect, who was caught on the bank’s surveillance video, made no mention of a weapon and no weapon was displayed during the robbery, Mastronardy said.

The man walked out of the bank and fled west. Inside the bank at the time of the robbery were four customers and three other bank employees—none were aware of the robbery until after the suspect fled, according to the chief.
