Police Searching for Two in Strong Arm Robbery of Sears

Proceeds were a $30 video game, suspects fled on foot after male swung at security

A man and woman believed to have stolen a video game fled on foot from the after the male suspect swung to hit security guards there Wednesday, police said.

Chief Michael Mastronardy released two images from security cameras of two individuals police believe stole a $29.99 Sony PSP video game from the Sears department store at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mastronardy said the incident is being investigated as a strong armed robbery after the male suspect — 5’ 5”, 220 pounds with dark hair and a goatee — swung at Sears security guards. No injuries were reported.

“Sears loss prevention officers approached the suspects outside the store after observing the female place a Sony PSP gamed valued at $29.99 in her purse,” said Mastronardy in an email. “The female was being escorted back into the store when the male suspect demanded the purse and began to swing at the security officers.”

After that the security guard threw the purse into the open garage area of the department at Sears, Mastronardy said.  At that point, the male suspect ran and grabbed the purse, and fled south in the mall parking lot.

“The female then fled into east into the woods on Oak Avenue.  Neither security officer was injured during the theft and assault,” said the police chief.

Police said the male suspect is 5’ 8” 220 lbs wearing black pants and red shirt, with dark hair and a goatee.  The female is 5’5” 280 lbs wearing dark shirt and dark pants.
