UPDATE: Carjacker Who Attacked Pregnant Toms River Woman Still On The Loose

Aerial search, door-to-door canvassing took place, police say

Manchester police are "exhausting all leads" in an attempt to identify the man who attacked a pregnant Toms River woman during an attempted carjacking earlier this month.

Capt. Lisa Parker said the department's Investigations Bureau, Patrol Division and auxiliary officers conducted an extensive door to door canvas handing out over 700 flyers with a request for assistance in identifying the suspect.

"The flyers contained the date and approximate time of the incident, the suspects physical descriptors,  composite sketch, and a request to have those residents that have home video surveillance systems review their systems for any suspicious activity on the date of the incident," said Parker, in a statement released Wednesday night.

In the door to door canvas and search, police focused on residences in the Ridgeway section of the township including a mobile home park and abandoned houses, Parker said.

The New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit also joined the search from the air, attempting to find the suspect in a heavily wooded area near where the July 16 attack occurred.

In the attack, which police say occurred at 10:56 p.m., the suspect grabbed the 23-year-old victim and attempted to pull her from the vehicle. The victim was able to fight off the attacker before driving away, police said.

The victim was taken to Community Medical Center for treatment of injuries to her neck and knuckles and was later released.

The victim described the assailant as a while male, unshaven, with a tattoo, police said at the time.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the department at 732-657-6111. All calls will remain confidential, Parker said.
