Possible Drug Overdose Deaths Under Investigation

A 29-year-old male and 21-year-old female may have died from drug use, police said

Police are investigating two recent deaths in Toms River as possible drug overdoses, according to Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

The deaths of a 29-year-old man found Friday, April 12, and a 21-year-old female discovered Monday, April 15, remain under investigation and police ask that anyone with information come forward, Mastronardy said.

Neither individual was identified by police, though Mastronardy said the 29-year-old man was found not breathing by family members in his Main Street home and the 21-year-old woman was found in a local hotel room.

Last month, a 20-year-old Toms River woman and 35-year-old Brick man were believed to have died from drug overdoses in the township. Mastronardy at the time said that Toms River is facing a "dramatic increase" in heroin use.
