Propeller Thief Charged After Lawn Ornament Destroyed

Sold for $900 in scrap.

A 23-year-old Manchester man has been arrested following an investigation into a stolen 1,000-pound propeller.

Toms River Detective Marc Bajada charged Andrew White, 23, of 909 Wellington Avenue with theft. White was released on a summons after his arrest, police said.

The investigation found the 62-inch propeller was destroyed after it was sold for scrap for $900. The propeller, which was stolen from the front lawn of a residence on Arcadia Drive, Toms River, was a lawn ornament. The owner was a commercial fisherman and the propeller came from a boat of his that had sunk, according to Toms River Police Chief Mastronardy.
