Raid of Motel Room Yields Crack, Drug Charges

Crack, packing materials seized, cops say

Toms River Police found raided a Route 37 motel room recently, seizing a quantity of cocaine and charging one person who was living in the room.

The Toms River Police Department's Special Enforcement Team concluded a month-long investigation with the execution of a search warrant on Room 330 of the Ocean View Inn and Suites on Route 37 on Oct. 17, Chief Michael Mastronardy said Friday.

The raid yielded approximately one ounce of crack cocaine and one and one half ounces of powder cocaine, said Mastronardy. Additionally, police seized $1,225 in cash, a digital scale and packaging material.

Rashid Johnson, 25, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Bail for Johnson was set at $25,000 cash. 

Police estimated the street value of the drugs seized at approximately $4,000.
