Report: Bamboo Bar Owner Must Pay $80K in Case of False Allegation
Jury sides with former TR East football star
The owner of the Bamboo Bar in Seaside Heights must pay $80,000 to a man who he accused of punching him during a melee at the nightclub in 2010, the Asbury Park Press reported.
An Ocean County jury found John Saddy, the nightclub owner, acted "with a malicious motive" when he claimed in legal documents that Jared Morris, now 25, punched him in the face.
Morris' attorney said Saddy filed a malicious lawsuit after he found out that Morris was planning on suing him, the Press report said.
The jury, according to the report, found no evidence that Morris ever assaulted Saddy and found that it was actually Morris who had been beaten at Bamboo on the night in question.
Morris, the Press said, is known locally as a former Toms River High School East football star who later went on to play for Wesley College and graduated this year.
