Residents Escape Morning House Fire in Toms River

Fire and police officials were still on the scene of a morning house fire that broke out in a wooden home at 2017 Windsor Avenue Wednesday morning.

The fire, which was reported at 9:07 a.m., appears to have originated in the laundry room was brought under control by 9:21 a.m., said police spokesman Ralph Stocco. The residents of the home got out before the fire spread, he said.

"We remain on the scene and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined," said Stocco.

Toms River Police Ptl. Nate Williams along with fire companies from East Dover, Silverton and Island Heights responded.

Investigators from the Toms River Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutors Office, and Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention are conducting the investigation, Stocco said.
