Route 9 Traffic Stop Leads to Cocaine Distribution Charge

Cocaine, Oxycontin, cash found in vehicle, authorities say

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office arrested and charged a Jackson man with cocaine distribution after police stopped his car on Route 9 in Lakewood, authorities said.

The Oct. 10 traffic stop came after detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Northern Enforcement Unit concluded an investigation that identified a 2001 white Lexus as being utilized by a Jackson man to store and distribute cocaine in Ocean County, the office said in a prepared statement on Friday.

When officers located the Lexus in the area of 1889 Route 9, partnering agencies stopped the vehicle and found it being operated by Alexander Holguin, 29, who they suspected to be driving the vehicle.

Detectives conducted a search of the Lexus and located approximately 23 grams of cocaine, a quantity of Oxycontin pills, and approximately $700 in cash, the statement said.

The Lexus was seized pending forfeiture proceedings.

Holguin was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of Oxycontin. He was released on his own recognizance.

Assisting in the investigation were members of the Jackson Township Police Department and the Lakewood Township Police Department, the prosecutor's office said.
