Seaside Heights Hurricane Victim Killed in Pedestrian Accident

Maple Shade Police say the victim was displaced by Hurricane Sandy and staying in a nearby hotel when he was killed.

A Seaside Heights man displaced by Hurricane Sandy was killed when he was struck by two vehicles on Route 73 North just after 1 a.m. Sunday. 

Thomas Lewis, 36, had been uprooted from his home by the storm and was temporarily residing in a Maple Shade hotel, according to police.

Police believe he was crossing 73, near the intersection with Route 38, around 1:04 a.m. when he was struck by two vehicles. He was declared dead at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by Maple Shade Police and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Both drivers are cooperating with the authorities, according to a report.
