Shoplifter In ShopRite Charged With Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia

A Toms River woman accused of shoplifting in the Bayville ShopRite has also been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Al Foca responded to the store on Route 9 at 6:30 p.m. on July 4 on a report of a shoplifter in custody they had detained, the chief said.

Store security told police they detained Melissa Minnitti, 41, of Whittier Road, Toms River. Further investigation revealed that Minnitti was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and had an outstanding warrant issued by Bloomfield,  DiMichele said.

Minnitti was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing.  She was charged and later released on a summons, the chief said.

@Nancy They'll pick her up next time she's caught stealing something.

She has a warrant out for her from Bloomfield and she was released? Can someone explain that?

Bloomfield didn't want to take the time come down here to pick her up on the warrant. Shocking I know. Maybe just maybe the warrant was for something not worth the energy and time it would take to come pick her up. Budget cuts and all that good stuff.

On July 5th, my friend found this woman's bag full of drug paraphernalia, personal belongings & court papers in the woods near 711 and washington street. The police ultimately confiscated her hidden belongings including prescription drugs, drug court documents and drug paraphernalia. Another example of the rampant, disgusting drug epidemic here in Toms River. these druggies are coming here from all over the state. it's a shame she wasn't dragged back to essex county immediately. now she's probably free here in Ocean County robbing someone else.
