Silverton Fire Company Prepares for Flooding; Power Outages Reported

No evacuations in effect, however

The Silverton Fire Company said Wednesday night that it was gearing up for flooding as a coastal storm began to affect the township.

The fire company said Wednesday night on its Facebook page that it will have a crew at its station ready to respond to flood reports through Thursday afternoon.

Other Toms River fire companies, as well the Toms River Police Department and Office of Emergency Management were set to respond.

There were no evacuations in place township-wide, however, a robocall from the township said.

By 9 p.m. Wednesday night, Jersey Central Power & Light was reporting 2,077 customers out of power in Toms River.

High tide at Silver Bay will occurr at 11:02 p.m. Wednesday night and 11:14 a.m. Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory, predicting minor to moderate tidal flooding associated with the coastal storm.
