Slew of Items Recovered As Teen Arrested in Car-Entry Thefts

More than a dozen unlocked cars in the North Beach section were entered in the last week

Police are looking to return a number of GPS units, iPods and more items seized in the wake of the arrest of a 17-year-old from Sussex County in connection with a string of thefts from unlocked cars in the North Beach section of Toms River, police said.

Officers Dan Ruiz and Anthony Scali, working an off-duty assignment at the Wawa in Chadwick Beach at 1:30 a.m. Friday, recognized the juvenile, from Burnsville in Andover Township, as a possible suspect in the thefts, Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said.

Police had been looking for a suspect after a resident provided video of the suspect attempting to enter a vehicle on Harbor Court during the night earlier in the week.
