Smash-and-Grab Car Burglaries Reported in Movie Theater Parking Lots

Several incidents this week at Toms River's two movie theater parking lots

Toms River Police are investigating two car burglaries in movie theater parking lots, where a suspect smashed through vehicle windows to find valuables.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said police responded to a 9:30 p.m. and a 10:45 p.m. car burglary at the AMC Movie Theater lot in Pavilion and at the Marquee Cinema lot in West Dover Monday.

A witness reported the 10:45 p.m. car burglary in the Marquee lot on Route 37 West, saying two windows on cars there were smashed by a male suspect, Mastronardy said.

Police are looking for a male, who was wearing black pants, a white t-shirt and a black baseball cap. He is believed to be connected to a car break-in an hour earlier at the on Bay Avenue.

In the Marquee incident, the suspect removed a purse from a vehicle, then hopped into the passenger a black pick-up truck with a hitch and tinted windows. The male driver fled eastbound on Rotue 37.

In the AMC Theater incident, a 67 year-old Bayville woman found her Nissan's window was smashed, but nothing was reported missing from the car.
