Car Driven By South Toms River Man Strikes Two Utility Poles On Route 37

No injuries in early Sunday morning accident

The Toms River police department is investigating a one-car accident that occurred at 6 a.m. Sunday.

Shaun McLaughlin, 53, of South Toms River, was driving eastbound on Route 37 near Berkeley Avenue when his 2003 Chevy left the road and struck a utility pole, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. The vehicle then re-entered the travel lane striking a speed limit sign and another utility pole, police said. 

After striking the second pole the vehicle rolled on its side.

McLaughlin was not injured in the accident, which is being investigated by Officers Daniel Herr and Mathew Broderick.
