Series of Unlocked Car Burglaries Overnight

Two separate incidents in Whitesville, Pleasant Plains

A multitude of unlocked vehicles in the Pleasant Plains section of town were broken into early Tuesday morning and late at night, but police said the suspects made off with only a handful of coins.

In one incident, a resident confronted the suspects, who rode off on their bicycles, police said.

Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said reports came in early Tuesday morning from Whitesville Road and Coulter Street, where numerous unlocked motor vehicles were broken into.

Later on, on Tuesday night, residents of the Gardens of Pleasant Plains reported two white males, possibly in their 20s, were seen riding their mountain bikes through the neighborhood. Mastronardy said two men were checking on car doors in an attempt to break in to unlocked vehicles.

A resident confronted the pair, and they rode off on Bellflower Court just before 11 p.m., said the police chief.

Police are looking for two 20-something white males. One is described as approximately 6’4” and 250 lbs., the other suspect is 5’9” and 130 pounds.

Anyone with information on either incident can call police headquarters at 732-349-0150.
