Teen Charged in Blow Dart Assault, Theft

Township teen charged in two separate cases

Toms River Police have charged a 16-year-old male from the township's East Dover section with juvenile delinquency in connection with a simple assault involving a blow dart that occurred Oct 7.

The juvenile, whose name was not released due to his age, used a blow dart gun and shot a 18 year old male who was jogging on Coolidge Avenue, Chief Michael Mastronardy said.

The same juvenile is also charged with the robbery of another 16-year-old Toms River male of $176 that occurred on Oct. 12 Fischer Blvd.

In that incident, Mastronardy said, he allegedly threaten to beat up the other juvenile if he did not remove money from his bank. 

The juvenile charged in both incidents was placed in Ocean County Juvenile Detention facility and the investigation is continuing by School Resource Officer Mark DeGrandis, Detective Alex Scherer and Detective Randy Petrick.
