Bayville Teens Charged with Burglary and Criminal Mischief at Gas Station

Toms River police arrested two juvenile males from Bayville recently for breaking into a fenced-off area at a gas station in Toms River, Chief Michael G. Mastronardy said.

“Toms River Police were alerted by a citizen that he observed two males enter a fenced in area of the Exxon gas station at Route 37 and Route 166 at 10 p.m. Thursday evening,” said the chief.

Mastronardy said that the first patrolman to arrive at the scene was Officer Shan Ruiz, who heard glass breaking in the area after exiting his patrol car. Ruiz saw two suspects taking turns throwing pieces of concrete at the front door of the business located on the property.

“The suspects were observed breaking the door and entering the business," Mastronardy said. "Officer Michael MacDonald and Ruiz were approaching the business when the two suspects exited and then fled on foot.”

Ruiz apprehended one of the suspects on Route 166, and the other was apprehended by Officer Travis Seaman on North Gateway. The pair were charged with juvenile complaints of burglary and criminal mischief, and then released to their parents' custody,  the chief said.
