Three Teens Arrested in Armed Robbery of Toms River Man

Group suspected of robbing man of $1,000

Two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old woman have been charged with robbing a Toms River man of $1,000.

The investigation began July 5, when a homeowner in the Lions Lane area of Brick Township called police at about 11:40 p.m. to report a male had walked up to the home, claiming he had been robbed.

The alleged victim, later identified as a 20-year-old Toms River man, fled from the home but police caught up with him a short time later, according to Brick Police Capt. John Rein.

The man told police he was in a vehicle with two other males and a female driver, when one of the male passengers pointed a gun at him and demanded money. He said he handed over $1,000, after which he was ordered out of the vehicle, a Nissan Sentra, and told to lie on the ground.

Police investigated the incident overnight and into Friday, eventually focusing on a home where the suspect vehicle was said to be located, Rein said. Police performed a motor vehicle stop on the Sentra late Friday morning, Rein said, leading to the arrest of one of the male suspects – a 17-year-old – and the female driver, identified as Staci Fayard, 18, of Toms River.

The third suspect, another 17-year-old from Toms River, was arrested later in the afternoon.

The suspected weapon, a BB gun, has been recovered by police, said Rein.

Both male juveniles were charged with robbery, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. They were both remanded to the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Facility in Toms River.

Fayard was charged with robbery, and bail was set at $150,000. She was being lodged in the Ocean County Jail, records showed Sunday.

How would morrre guns or those that look like reg guns (tho bb guns themselves can do mjr damage such as the kid on my school bus as a teen who lost his eye FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE when he n a pal went shooting in the woods behind our condos...the friend missed whatever he was aiming at, imagine the pain n loss the injured boy felt n feels as well as the GUILT the shooter lives with) help the world???

Their are types of people, those that want others to protect them and those that have the courage to protect themselves. In states that have the right to carry laws, they have lower crime rates .

Sounds like a drug deal gone bad. What 20 yr old is walking around with $1,000 cash? What 20 yr old has $1000 cash and gets into a car with 'strangers'? Please.....

I agree with Mattie, they figured he wouldn't go to the police and say ; I wanted drugs and they ripped me off for the cash ! They should ALL be in jail , the buyer and sellers.Good lesson , for young readers...learn from it . Don't put yourself in THIS situation...ever ! Get high on SPORTS !

You'd be surprised. My favorite episode of Cops is where someone flags down a passing cop and goes "Officer! I tried to buy some crack from this guy, but he tried to sell me a piece of drywall!"
Common Sense in Silverton July 09, 2012 at 05:14 PM
Did they have the drugs just lying out in the open? This is imporant.

go easy on them , , they didn't mean it .... :) I agree with " so much to say" ..... statisics show there is MUCH less crime when more law abiding citizens are allowed to carry a gun..its actually common sense.. but as we see, that is alcking much in our society today

These 3 idiots need to rob someone with there bb gun who will use a 12 guage on them. If they survive lets see how eager they are to rob again.

Guessing that the 18-year-old will most likely spend her summer in the slammer, what parent would come up with the 10% for bail !! Would you ?? I agree with Scott, a bb gun is no match with a real firearm..
