Toms River Cop Made Most DWI Arrests of Any N.J. Officer in 2013

TRPD cop nabbed 102 suspected drunk drivers in 2013

With 102 suspected drunk drivers charged, a Toms River police officer led the state in DWI arrests in 2013.

Former Police Chief Michael Mastronardy made the announcement about Officer Robert Westfall's success hours before his retirement from the department on New Year's Eve. The previous year, Westfall led the county with 62 DWI arrests.

On Thursday, Westfall told WNBC-TV that he catches drunk drivers not by sitting outside of bars, but by patrolling the township's roads on the hunt for motorists who are failing to maintain their lanes or driving erratically.

Westfall told a WNBC reporter that he plans on keeping up his efforts to get drunk drivers off the roads "until the day I retire."
