Toms River Man, 59, Missing Since Aug. 5

Silver alert still active, man is believed to be driving black Jeep

A Toms River man, 59, is believed to be missing and disoriented, possibly driving to North Jersey, police said.

A Silver Alert was activated before 10 p.m. Tuesday for a white man, 5'04" and weighing 120 pounds. He has hazel eyes and gray hair and has diabetes, according to the Silver Alert.

The man was last seen at home on Aviary Way in Toms River's Homestead Run neighborhood. He is believed to be driving a 2012 black Jeep Patriot, New Jersey license plate V78-BPG.

The Silver Alert message urges anyone with information to call 911. "Your cooperation may help save a life," ends the message. As the search continues NJ511.org will post updates should any additional information be available.

A picture of the man or his name were not released.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy sid Officer Michael Foy initiated the Silver Alert. Police were called by a family member, who said the man was last seen Aug. 3 but was scheduled to return on Aug. 5.

"A family member reported that the man left Toms River on August 3rd and was scheduled to return on August 5th,"  said Mastronardy in an email.

Along Route 37 and the Garden State Parkway, emergency alert signs were activated to share the message of the Silver Alert.
