Toms River Man Arrested in 7-Eleven Robbery

Nathaniel Bennett was arrested at his home early Saturday

A Toms River man has been arrested and charged in Wednesday’s robbery of the 7-Eleven on Route 166, police said.

Nathaniel Bennett, 43, of Vaughn Avenue, was arrested at his home just before 3 a.m. on Saturday by Detective Alex Scherer, Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said.

The convenience store and gas station, near Route 571 in Pleasant Plains, was robbed early Oct. 10, police said.

The incident involved a man who said he had a weapon, though no weapon was shown, said Toms River Police Capt. Steven Henry. The man demanded money from the attendant at the 7-11, stole "a small amount of cash" and then fled on foot.

Henry said no injuries were reported.

Bennett was taken to the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, no 10 percent option, on the robbery charge and two other warrants issued by the Toms River Municipal Court, Mastronardy said.

Assisting in the arrest were Officer Ryan Quinn, Sgt. Raymond Maloney, and Officers James Carey, Joe Mastronardy and Kyle Martucci.

Toms river is doomed. I'M SURE someone will say its all the trash from up north coming down here. B.S. I'm sure this guy was born and raised DOWN THE SHORE. Blame the slumlords in T.R. for renting to this element.
Ballantine October 16, 2012 at 12:59 AM
I 'd put money down that this was directed at me. Please explain to us what makes you so sure he was born and raised at the shore, Why blame the people renting to him. That makes zero sense. Are you capable of articulating your thoughts? I would love to hear your logic, if it could be called that. So far from the posts I have read of yours, your only intend to incite. So if you post a comment like the one above or like the one in a similar article, and you are offended by what someone has to say about it , get a spine. or don't post at all. It is a simple enough concept, even you should be able to grasp. And you're right it IS all the trash from up north! Happy now?

@ballantine Do you not see the problem in your once great town? Or do you not read the entire paper. This is a daily occurance. drugs ,guns, gangs, hookers, meth clinics, rapes, crackhouse motels, theft , armed robbery, home invasions........ Come on. Im sorry that i make no sense to you and you dont understand my logic. As far as the trash from up north goes. A lot of those people that moved to tr for a better and safer town to live in are moving out before their homes are worth squat. and yes i am much happier now that i have left good old dover township. maybe they should change the name back. lol

Since the parkway ramp construction, Route 9 is the parkway at that point of the roadway. Route 166 and 9 begin to overlap again at the Beachwood circle. Although, many drivers refer to the entire stretch as Route 9.

Catherine,Jennifer is correct. The Pleasant Plains section of Toms River IS rt.9.Please check your maps.

This 7-11 is the southern one near Briar Knoll, not the Church Road intersection 7-11 on Route 9.

I agree with Fed Up T.R. was a great place to grow up. All I hear about now is the Mexicans, Drugs and Armed Robberies.
