Toms River Man Arrested in Robbery of Krauszer's Store

Cops: suspect taken into custody at Jamestown Apartments

A Toms River man was arrested and charged in the Dec. 26 robbery of a Krauszer's convenience store in the township.

Matthew Reyes, 29, was taken into custody at the Jamestown Apartments where he was living, according to Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Mastronardy credited Officers Samantha Sutter and Brent Mundy, who were detailed to the area after the robbery, with developing information that led to the suspect's arrest.

In the robbery, a suspect described as a white male, 5'6", 170 pounds and wearing a black mask, demanded money from the clerk at the store, located at Hooper Avenue and James Street, but got away without any proceeds. A second robbery occurred two hours later at Carters in the Toms River Shopping Center, however Reyes has, thus far, only been charged in the first robbery.

Officers James Skripko and Jason Stallworth took Reyes into custody without incident, said Mastronardy. He was being held in the Ocean County Jail on $75,000 cash bail.

Detectives Louis Santora and Jennifer Grob led the investigation.
