Toms River Man Assaulted Cops, Indictment Charges

Ocean County grand juries hand up indictments

A resident armed with weapons faces charges for allegedly assaulting two police officers, according to an indictment returned last week by an grand jury.

Matthew D. Chadwick, 19, of Dover Street was in possession of a hunting knife and a folding knife Aug. 16 when he assaulted two officers in the township, the indictment states.

Chadwick was charged with two counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was initially jailed on $10,000 bail but posted Aug. 19.
