UPDATE: Toms River Man Falls To His Death; Name Not Released

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification to the family, police said

Police have not released the name of a 49-year-old Toms River man who fell to his death in Mount Olive Monday, police said.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification to the family, police said.

At 9:21 p.m., the Mount Olive Police Communications Center received a 911 call of an "unresponsive" male in the woods near the King’s Village Apartment Complex, police said.

Upon arrival, police determined that the 49-year-old male was bow hunting in the wooded area adjacent to the apartment complex. The victim had been sitting in a tree stand, which was approximately 25 feet off the ground, and fell to the ground, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the fall.

The Mount Olive Police Department was assisted by the Budd Lake First Aid Squad, paramedics from St. Clares Hospital, the Morris County Medical Examiners Office and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigative Section.
