Toms River Police Investigate Burglary, Car Accident

Police seek answers behind forced-entry burglary, motor vehicle collision

The Toms River Township Police Department, through Officer Pascal Gambardella, is currently investigating a burglary that occurred on Tuesday morning in a home located on River Terrace, in the Silver Ridge section of Toms River.

Police noted that the residents of the home reported the burglary themselves, and that the theft occurred sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Chief Michael Mastronardy confirmed that an unknown perpetrator entered the residence by forcing open the front door and stole over $1000 in jewelry from the home’s bedroom. Detective John Anderson of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department is also assisting in the burglary investigation.

  • Nicole Francis, a 17-year-old resident of Toms River, was issued a traffic signal violation summons by Traffic Safety Corporal Shan McHugh, subsequent to an investigation into a two-car motor vehicle accident which occurred at the intersection of Vaughn and Windsor avenues at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Dolores Miller, 70, of Toms River, was heading eastbound on Windsor Avenue, and was crossing the intersection of Vaughn and Windsor while driving a 2011 Hyundai. At that time, she was struck by Francis, who was driving a 2005 Toyota that was directed southbound on Vaughn Avenue, police said. Miller’s Hyundai struck the curb, and then rolled onto its side. Both Toms River Fire Companies No. 1 & No. 2 responded to the scene, extricating Miller from her car, and helping to secure her transport to Community Medical Center.
