Toms River Police Investigating Residential Burglaries

Toms River police are investigating burglaries that occurred Friday and Saturday.

Officer Witold Paduch and Michael Cassidy are investigating a burglary to a home that occurred Friday between noon and 11 p.m. to a home on Runyon Drive in the Silver Ridge section of the township, said Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. A suspect or suspects forced entry through a rear window of the home and after ransacking the bedrooms, removed an Apple MacBook laptop from the home.

In the Saturday burglary, which occurred between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., Grand Avenue residents came home to find that a burglar has used a hatchet they left behind to force entry of the rear door. The suspect or suspects may have been scared off by the return of the homeowner, said Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

A purple pillow case was removed along with jewelry, Mastronardy said. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Toms River Police detectives at 349-0150 ext. 1200.
