Toms River Police Jail Lakewood Man on Numerous Weapons Charges
Bail set at $300,000 for 29-year-old charged early Sunday
A Lakewood man is being held on $300,000 bail and faces weapons possession charges after Toms River police arrested him at a Route 9 strip club last weekend.
Corporeal Art Pennell, Sgt. Michael Miller and Officers Jason Putkowski and Pascal Gambardella of the Toms River Police Department responded to Delilah's Den at 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning on a suspicious person call, said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.
Derek Slater, 29, of Lakewood, was "quickly arrested" by officers who recovered a 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun, the chief said.

Slater was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a high capacity ammunition magazine, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on police officers, Mastronardy said.
Slater remains in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River on $300,000 bail, according to the Ocean County Department of Corrections.
