Toms River Police Searching for Man Wanted in Shoplifting

Police: shoplifter caught on camera

Toms River police are looking for a man who is accused of shoplifting items from the township's Kohl's store.

Officers began investigating the alleged theft July 1, when they were called to the store after loss prevention officers there told police they observed a man on surveillance camera walking through the store, taking items off of the rack in the men's department and placing them in a shopping bag, police spokesman Ralph Stocco said.

The man walked past the registers and exited the store without paying for the merchandise, the video showed, but when the man was approached by the loss prevention officers, he dropped the merchandise and fled, Stocco said.

The recovered merchandise is valued at $539, according to Stocco.

Township police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect seen in the surveillance footage image attached to this story to contact Detective Roger Hull at 732-349-0150 extension 1291 or private message the department at https://www.facebook.com/tomsriverpolice.
