The Toms River Fire Departments' annual September 11 memorial service will this year feature the songs of high schoolers and the pledges of grade school students.
The event, 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, is at East Dover Firehouse at 629 Fischer Boulevard, where a piece of World Trade Center steel was memorialized and installed on the property in 2011.
East Dover Elementary students will recite the Pledge of Allegiance, Monsignor Donovan's Big Blue Singing Crew will perform several songs and Ocean County Fire Coordinator Brian Gabriel is the keynote speaker.
At the end of the ceremony, a special dove release is scheduled.
John Salemi, Vice-President of East Dover Vol. Fire Co. 4, said attendees should arrive by 9:45 a.m. for a 9:58 a.m. start.
"The memorial service is open to all who wish to attend and will consist of many local emergency service providers, school children, and the general public," Salemi said.
