Toms River Traffic Report: Buckwald Reopened After Accident, Lane Closures Elsewhere

Buckwald Drive has since reopened after Toms River Police responded to a minor two-car accident near Church Road at around 2:30 p.m., police said.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said one of the vehicle's occupants complained of knee pain but the injuries were minor. Buckwald Drive was closed for approximately an hour, sending Ocean County College traffic to use the College Drive entrance off Hooper instead of the Church Road access.

At 3:30 p.m., the accident was cleared and the road had been reopened, Mastronardy said.

Lane Closure for Tree Cutting Crews on Oak Avenue:  Oak Avenue near the Ocean County Mall entrance had utility crews cutting limbs from trees hanging over the roadway. The right lane was closed this morning with police in the area as crews progressed toward Route 571. The work was expected through the afternoon in the right lane on the mall side of the road.

Repaving Continues Around Yellowbank Road: An ongoing repaving project and sidewalk ramp improvements continue along roadways off Yellowbank Road and its adjacent streets, near Indian Hill Road.

Lane Shifts Near Parkway 83 Project: Traffic cones and lane shifts will remain in place until further notice as construction continues on the Parkway Interchange 83 reconfiguration. The exit and entrance to parkway northbound from Route 166 is also affected. The stretch of Route 571 near Intermediate Way remains a heavy construction zone.

Route 37 Seaside Bridge Intermittent Lane Closures: Both spans of the Route 37 bridges will intermittently face lane closures as projects such as repainting and repair work continue. The state Department of Transportation project began late this winter and is expected to continue through the spring.

Grand Central and Birch Streets Projects Begin: Alternating traffic patterns on Grand Central Parkway in Berkeley was scheduled to begin today in an Ocean County Roads Department project. The milling and paving of Grand Central is expected through April 11. Birch Street, in Beachwood, is also affected by alternating traffic patterns for milling and paving work on April 12.
