A Toms River woman was issued a careless driving summons by police following a two car accident on Whitesville Road Friday morning.

Olive Tourtillott, 77, was driving her Chrysler westbound on Whitesville Road when she attempted to make a left turn in front of Ashley Russano, 22, of Island Heights, who was traveling eastbound in a Honda, according to police spokesman Ralph Stocco.

The two vehicles collided at about 7:56 a.m., causing minor injuries to both drivers, Stocco said. Both were transported to Community Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Tourtillott was issued a careless driving summons by police on scene.

Traffic Safety Officer Terry Warren investigated the crash.

my old '54 Buick would have driven through that frozen pile of sand without hardly a scratch on it - and the whole '54 Buick when it was new cost less that just the repairs on these two tinfoil vehicles

Stop living in the past..that was like 50 years ago
Mac February 07, 2014 at 12:58 PM
that's hard to do A-Ball - we were raised in an America when products were made to last before we outsourced our voting rights to Mexico and ended up with the current Montezuma’s Revenge leadership of Ocean County - no wonder Amanda Knox doesn't vacation here

@grace - yeah, cars were made for drive-in theater duty back in those days - remember, we could stretch out entirely in the back seat - then the European model design took over and America is now foreign powered with kneepad perfection

o god i am cracking up over here @ mac!! now that you brought up amanda knox..she guilty or innocent whats your take?

Ha, I love the comments section sometimes...

@grace - one potato, two potato, three potato - I think Amanda is satisfied with two potato, much like I am - if Italy is so upset over her innocent verdict being wrong, perhaps they should look into obtaining less good old boy prosecutors and start requiring some legal ability to do the job right

@Mac @grace I remember growing up, my parents had a 56' Pontiac and it fit all 5 kids , my parents and my grandmother comfortably! It started to get embarrassing when they were still riding around in it into the mid 70's (at least for us kids). When my sister got her drivers license, my father bought a new car and my sister was given the 56' Pontiac! Now I wish I had that car!

@Maruca I also recall my grandparents had a small to medium boat (I know you have a boat), it was really a' thing of beauty', all wood, the upkeep was tremendous, outboard motor that took quite a long time to get going, but it was great! We used to take it from Forge Pond (Brick) into the Metedeconk River to go crabbing and some light fishing. Part of the adventure was we had to watch the tides carefully, in order to get under Rte.70 and back into Forge Pond. My grandparents used to yell at us kids "to hit the decks", they were probably over- exaggerating, but also part of the fun! I remember we sometimes caught blow fish in the box traps but always released them. Now they're a delicacy in certain parts and no longer can be found around here.

@Linda - the Vicari Code - it's all about blow fish and box traps - now we just have jellyfish left
grace February 07, 2014 at 06:26 PM
@ mac there you go again being funny!!! @ linda baloney there are still blowfish in the bay..brother in law catches them all summer..and they are not the vicari type...take it easy

You're probably right grace. I haven't been crabbing in years, don't have access to a boat no more, and lost my sea legs a few years ago! I went out on a party boat about 5 years ago and it was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life!!! I think "The Gambler", still has a picture of me saying, "Do not let this woman on board".
Linda Maloney February 07, 2014 at 08:12 PM
Is there a limit on blowfish?
Mac February 07, 2014 at 08:56 PM
let me check the Vicari Code bible on that one Linda - it's a long list of vows that all start out as 'mirror, mirror, on the wall.......

My grandmother could have done a half-pike off that snow pile!

I learned to drive in my dad's '55 Pontiac. It was a tank, and my arms hurt from trying to turn the wheels back and forth to park (no power steering or brakes, roll down windows, AM radio. I wish I still had that beauty!

Those old car were great, except for the fact they don't give. If these were two cars from the 50s someone would have been killed. Accidents look worse now but are more safe.
