Traffic Map: Live Road Conditions in Toms River After Snow Storm

What conditions are unfolding on area roads? In the attached live traffic map of Toms River, incidents are posted and updated every five minutes from Mapquest using state police and transportation department data on current conditions.

Speed restrictions are in place along the Garden State Parkway and local road conditions remain poor after about 10 inches of snow fell overnight in the area.

Areas in yellow or red denote traffic slowdowns and other incidents. Check the map before heading out to see where weather is impacting roadways or if traffic is building on the Parkway or Routes 37 or 70.

What has happened to snow removal and clear roads in Toms River with this storm ?? Brick and north to Long Brach was done MUCH better , once you left TR the roads were fine. TR you dropped the ball, not enough outside contractors ???? The Town council has to address this !!!!! Waiting to here what they didn't do and why ???

It's pathetic. Where is our tax dollars going? It surely isn't toward snow removal this year.

All you guys do is complain, go get a shovel and go dig.

Bob, Spent the whole morning doing that. When my taxes have doubled and yet the services have declined in less then 6 years yes I have a reason to complain. If you pay for taxes you pay for services. When those services aren't performed yet the town never let's you not pay yes darn straight I have a right to voice my opinion. If you don't like it don't read it.

HR, You do have a valid point. Let's all be civil and understand what people are going through. The sun is out!

HR, your not voicing your opinion, your complaining. Do you realize how big of a job it is to clear all the roads, at least give them a reasonable amount of time to get the job done.

Part of the problem of not being able to clean the roads efficiently is the amount of traffic caused by the "storm panicked grocery store shelf emptying" masses and other non-essential travelers. Not to mention the sub-freezing temperatures that severely inhibit the performance of salt and other melting chemicals. Not knowing about the potential impact of this storm a few days in advance, and preparing for it's arrival in advance, is almost ludicrous given the amount of multimedia coverage that's out there. Too bad the stores don't sell common sense but I'm afraid that even if they did it would probably be the only thing left on the shelves after the eggs, milk, bread, and toilet paper are long gone. IMHO

Do the contractor flunkies who plow while doing 70 mph get bonus points for knocking over robocans or something? I was just wondering because they did a hell of a job last night making a f-ing mess.
