Two Arrested As Toms River Police Seize 351 Bags Of Heroin

Toms River Police Department officers had already searched a home on Waters Edge Drive and found 351 bags of heroin and other drugs.

Later than day, members of the department's Special Enforcement Team  arrested Nathan Mendoza, 38, Bay Avenue, as he stepped off a bus from New York.

Mendoza was carrying a "large" amount of heroin, Police Chief Mitchell Little said.

Authorities seized 351 bags of heroin, a quantity of suboxone and marijuana and $766 in cash at the Waters Edge Drive residence.

Mendoza was the target of the investigation, Little said.

He was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of Suboxone, and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. His bail was set at $100,000.
Mendoza had a no bail arrest warrant from Ocean County for violating terms of a previous drug court agreement, the chief said.

He was transported to the Ocean County Jail. Mendoza also had a no bail arrest warrant from Ocean County for violating the terms of his previous drug court agreement. 

While executing a court-ordered search warrant at the Waters Edge Drive residence, Monica Herman, 27, of Blossom Drive was arrested. 

Herman was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of suboxone, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Herman was released on a summons.  Both defendants were temporarily staying at the location on Waters Edge Drive while they maintained permanent residence elsewhere.
