Toms River police and fire fighters responded to a structure fire at 359 Suburban Drive at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The occupants were home at the time, and indicated a family member had a cigarette on the upstairs back deck about a ½ hour before they discovered the fire, according to Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.
The Pleasant Plains Fire Company, with assistance from Toms River Fire Company 1 and 2 and East Dover Fire Companies responded and extinguished the fire, according to Dave George, Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Company Chief.
It was under control in 15 minutes," said George. "It was a very aggressive attack.
There were no injuries reported, police said.
In a second Sunday blaze, at 1 a.m. police and fire fighters responded to a structural fire at 654 Bay Avenue.
Officer Mathew Broderick upon arrival found an unoccupied garage structure to be fully involved.
The garage, 18-feet by 12-feet, collapsed prior to the arrival of fire units.
Toms River Fire Company 1 & 2 and East Dover Fire Companies extinguished the fire.
There were no injuries reported.
Fire Inspector Kevin Britton of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating.
If I was the homeowner I'd make that trampolice vanish ASAP. As soon as the adjuster sees it, they will hear something they do not want to hear.
