UPDATE: One-Year-Old Hospitalized After Two Vehicles Collide Near Toms River North
Boy was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center
A 1-year-old boy was hospitalized after two vehicles collided Thursday morning on Bey Lea Road, Route 571, at the Toms River North High School side entrance.
The son of Christian Kane, 40, of Toms River was in a child seat behind his father when a westbound truck struck their van in the rear, police said. The truck was operated by Kenneth Renae, 22, of Point Pleasant.
The boy was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center with a head injury, police said.

The road was closed in both directions between Old Freehold Road and North Bay Avenue while police investigated the accident, police said.
The van was also traveling westbound on Bey Lea Road and turning left onto North Drive when it was struck by the westbound delivery truck, police said.

The road's traffic was directed into Toms River North's parking lot and a nearby doctor's office.
Two ambulances and as many as six police cars were on the scene.
