Utility Pole Snapped In Route 37, Wrangle Brook Road Accident

Driver faces DUI, other charges

Toms River Township police responded to an accident 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Route 37 and Wrangle Brook Road. 

David Delriocerchio, 21, of Ocean Township, was eastbound on Route 37 in a family member's car that he took without permission, when the 2012 Chevy left the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. 

The utility pole snapped in half and came to rest on the car.

Delriocerchio was transported to Community Medical Center where he was charged with driving while under the influence, reckless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a hypodermic syringe, Mastronardy said.

Trafety Safety Officer Steven Schwartz was the investigating officer.
