UPDATE: Hooper Avenue Reopens After Water Main Break

Water service shut down to school, officials say

Hooper Avenue at Indian Hill Road has reopened after a water main break that occurred Tuesday morning, according to township police.

The break caused detours at the busy intersection all day long.

Police responded to the area early Tuesday morning for a report of water coming up from the ground in the area of the water tower on Hooper Avenue across from the Hooper Avenue Elementary School, according to Chief Mitch Little.

United Water of Toms River shut off water to the school, which was without water service for much of the day. Both northbound lanes of Hooper had been shut down in the area.
