UPDATED: Water Main Break Reported on Fischer Boulevard

Main break located on Fischer Boulevard, between Oceanic Drive and Veeder Avenue

A water main break has occurred in town on Fischer Boulevard between Oceanic Drive and Veeder Avenue, in the vicinity of the East Dover Fire Company headquarters. One lane of Fischer Boulevard has apparently been closed due to the break.

Chief Michael Mastronardy of the Toms River Township Police Department said that department was notified at 2:16 this afternoon that was flowing into the nearby lagoon, and that an officer had been dispatched on special duty to assist the work currently being conducted by repair crews from United Water.

A voicemail at United Water advised that customers may experienced varied levels in water pressure or discolored water during the time the repairs are being completed, but that these conditions are only temporary.

Jane Kunka, Community and Public Affairs Representative for United Water, commented that in addition to Oceanic Drive and Veeder Avenue, other streets affected include Creek Road, Goose Place, John Street, Beachwood Avenue, Driftwood Place, and Ellicott Avenue.

"About 80 to 85 people in total have had their water service affected by the main break," said Kunka. "We are continuing work on repairing the road currently, and if people still do not have water pressure, they should within the next few hours."
