House Damaged By Fire in Normandy Beach

Scene of the fire is 202 Fifth Avenue.

Firefighters from six fire companies fought a working fire in a one-story dwelling in the Normandy Beach section of Toms River on Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m at 202 Fifth Avenue.

First arriving firefighters quickly requested mutual aid companies respond to the scene to help fight the fire. 

At the fire were Toms River Fire Company District 1, Ocean Beach Fire Company, Mantoloking Fire Company, Lavellette Fire Company, East Dover Fire Company and Seaside Heights Fire Company. 

Toms River Police also responded to the scene.

According to fire officials, the fire began in an attached garage and spread to the house, while was severely damaged and determined to be uninhabitable.

The garage was fully involved when the first fire company arrived on the scene.

The fire was placed under control at around 5:20 p.m. and firefighters began a salvage and overhaul of the home.
