policies and season of beach buggies may be changing for next year's season.

Township Administrator Paul Shives said there's already an ordinance on the books governing beach buggy use, but this move will clean up the law's language and update it to reflect the enforcement season.

This ordinance would require the owner to get a notarized signature that the vehicle meets inspection standards, making the owner liable.

The permit and fee will be collected by the Township Clerk, with the owner certifying the vehicle in “safe and working condition and has been properly registered, inspected, and maintained,” according to the new ordinance.

The Tax Payers and Voters of Ortley Beach and the New Jersey Beach Buggy Association suggested the changes, which were first introduced at the Dec. 13 Town Council meeting.
