Christie Makes Good On Promise, Comes Back To Seaside

Seven months after a fire destroyed much of the Seaside Heights and Seaside Park Boardwalk, Gov. Chris Christie made good on his promise.

He came back.

Appearing Friday, Christie also called on "working together" and ensuring a successful tourism season now that the Seaside Heights boardwalk has been mostly fixed.

"I'm going to be down here so much, you people are going to be tired of me," he said.  "I'll try not to get into any fights on the boardwalk."

He said that Sandy relief money helped pay for fixing the boardwalk because "it is my belief" that the hurricane floodwaters contributed to the blaze that destroyed businesses and much of the boardwalk itself.

Investigators have said that salt water mixing with the underpinnings and electrical work of the boardwalk, and the ensuing corrosion, could have contributed to the cause of the fire.
