Closures List for Aug. 29

After Hurricane Irene, closures reported

A brief list of closures or amended hours due to Hurricane Irene on Monday.

Toms River Township Administrator Paul Shives reported:

  • access is severely impeded due to flooding. Trails and ball fields are closed with security stationed in the area. The skating rink however will open at 4 p.m.
  • golf course is open but without power. Reserved tee times are not in use as a result and the golf course is operating on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • All other are open for normal hours.
  • The township pool in Snug Harbor is open for normal hours.
  • Ortley Beach beaches are open and guarded today for normal hours.
  • is operating on backup generators. Shives warns residents of possible slow response times for office phones in town hall.
  • All other township offices are operating on a regular Monday schedule.

According to the state Parks Department, Island Beach State Park is closed today.

According to the Jean Flaherty, director of marketing for , operations at Community Medical Center are not impacted by flooding or power outages. All services and hours are normal.
