Planning Board Approves Gateway Toyota's Expansion Amendments

Planning board decides particulars of car dealership renovations

Gateway Toyota on Route 37 received approval from the Toms River Planning Board for amendments to the original renovation proposal.

Gateway Toyota is currently building a brand new showroom, and that means two trailers for customer service and showroom center while they are in construction. The Planning Board addressed the trailer space plans during a recent meeting, for example: Three air conditioning units that are visible from the show and service room will be screened.

, Gateway Toyota General Manager Ed Sunday said construction is expected to continue until summer of 2012.

The project focuses on the service end of Gateway Toyota, updating automobile mechanics and diagnostic technology at the facility.

The expansion inreases the number of service bays from 24 to 30 lifts with an automated car wash as well.

The new service facility will have the updated technological computer equipment for diagnostics, the latest equipment in regards to car lifts and will be a cleaner, larger facility, Sunday said.

The project included asking to approve plans to use a portion of the common area between and to be eaten up by the project.
