Gilmore Re-Elected as Ocean County GOP Chair

County committee members re-elect GOP chairman, vice chair

Longtime Ocean County Republican Chairman George Gilmore was re-elected to his position at the top of the county's powerful Republican organization Tuesday night.

The party, through a social media post, said Gilmore was re-elected chairman and Barbara Lanuto was re-elected vice chair at the party's reorganization meeting, which was held Tuesday.

The party's leadership was elected by county committee members who cast votes. Each electoral district in the county has two Republican and two Democratic committee members, one man and one woman for each party.

Gilmore, whose Toms River-based law firm has been ranked among the state's most powerful, has served as party chair since 1996 and previously served as chairman of the New Jersey Republican Chairman’s Association from 2002 through 2010.

Lanuto is employed as Deputy Ocean County Clerk.
