Gov. Praises 'Family Success Centers,' Crediting Increased Funding

Lakewood facility on list of Family Success Centers

Gov. Chris Christie said the concept of Family Success Centers, a "one-stop" source of help for families before crisis hits, is reaching more families thanks to increased funding.

In Jersey City this week, Christie said the use of the centers has increased dramatically. From his first year in office to 2011, the number of families using the centers statewide increased from 37,000 to 61,000.

The services are free. Among the aims of the centers are child abuse prevention, information and referral services, referrals to local health care services, parent education and life skills training.
