Kelly To Lead Freeholder Board in 2013

Lacey to serve as deputy director

John P. Kelly will be named director of the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders at the board's organization meeting on Jan. 2, the board announced this week.

Kelly, of Eagleswood Township, is serving his seventh term on the freeholder board and has served as its director three previous times, in 1995, 2001 and 2007. He is the board's director of Law and Public Safety and the liaison to the Ocean County Engineering Department.

James F. Lacey of Brick will be named the board's deputy director. He is the liaison to the county's roads department and to Ocean County’s Department of Solid Waste Management.

The board's organization meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, and freeholders Gerry P. Little, the board's current director, and John C. Bartlett Jr., the deputy director, will be sworn in after they were re-elected to the freeholder board in November.

“Every new year comes with its own set of challenges,” Kelly said. “I look forward to working closely with my colleagues on the board as we work to rebuild our great county in the New Year.

“We have a long road ahead of us,” Kelly said. “And this board will do all it can to help our municipalities and citizens in the coming year.”

“The new year, at times, will be difficult,” said Lacey, who served as deputy director in 2007. “But we are well prepared to serve our residents and to meet the challenges that we will be facing.”

It's the same group of freeloaders playing musical chairs as to who will be the director..And in this county, they'll NEVER be voted out..

Kelly will be just as good as the former sheriff, another one of the "Gilmore Girls" sucking up double or triple pensions / salaries. Way to go George. You and your ilk knew darn well that Polhemus wouldn't make it till spring, the re-election was a way to appoint another of your good old boys to a profitable position. I've lived in areas where the sheriffs dept. was an actual LE agency, not just Mall Cops building big pensions.

You mean the new Sheriff EX Freeholder Kelly?

Jack Kelly's pension scam is legend in these here parts. What was his quote, "I never took a penny for nothing."
Donna Griffin December 16, 2012 at 09:59 PM
Then why does the public continue re-electing these folks? I'm tired of people perpetually complaining about the double dipping pensioners. They didn't storm town hall and assume their political positions. WE PUT THEM THERE!
Ken December 17, 2012 at 12:42 AM
Unfortunately the idoits of ocean county still keep reelecting him. All you need to win any election in Ocean county or Toms River is to have a R after your name. I do not vote along party lines, I vote for whoever I think is best or at least the lesser of two evils.
Ken December 17, 2012 at 12:43 AM
Donna when you say "WE PUT THEM THERE!" please do not include me in that. You may be part of the "we", but I am not.
Ken December 17, 2012 at 12:44 AM
Just don't get in his way when he is hunger and remember the state will cover for you no matter what you do or who you kill as long as you are a freeloader
Ken December 17, 2012 at 12:46 AM
Well said Tom Cular. I think everyone knew this was the plan but the people who vote along party lines were either to stupid to realize it or just did not care

I thought Oliver Hardy passed years and years ago of the famed Laurel and Hardy team.
