No Independents File for Two Toms River Council Spots

One seat on Toms River Council will be contested in November's election, but the Ward 3 seat finds an incumbent running unopposed.

Two council seats are on the November ballot for unexpired terms: Ward 3 and Ward 4.

In Ward 4, incumbent Councilman Al Manforti of Lakehurst Road is being challenged by Democrat Eli L. Eytan, of Tennyson Avenue.

In Ward 3, incumbent Councilman Jeffrey Carr, a Republican, is running unopposed. Today, the filing deadline for independents, had no petitions filed for the Ward 3 seat, according to the .

Both terms are unexpired, serving a one-year term for each. Manforti was appointed to the Ward 4 seat after longtime Councilman Gregory McGuckin won his state Assembly bid. Carr was appointed to the Ward 3 seat due to Maurice "Mo" Hill's move from the Ward 3 seat to the at-large seat he won in the Nov. 2011 election.
