Plans For Brick White Castle Hit Delay

Restaurant chain has six months to revive application

Plans by the White Castle restaurant chain to build a location in Brick have languished before the planning board with no action for more than two years, leading to a denial without prejudice by the board.

At its meeting Wednesday night, the board technically denied the restaurant chain's application to construct a location at 2778 Hooper Avenue – the former site of a gas station near the corner of Hooper and Brick Boulevard – but said the company could revive its application any time in the next six months.

The board never actually heard the company's case to build a restaurant in Brick because every time it was placed on the agenda, the company asked for it to be rescheduled, officials said. The back-and-forth has gone on for more than two years.

"No matter what, this is certainly a denial without prejudice," said board attorney Joseph D. Coronato, adding that he contacted White Castle's attorneys as a courtesy and told them his recommendation to the board would be such a denial.

"He indicated to me that he had no objection to this," said Coronato, referring to the White Castle attorney.

If the company does not revive its application within six months, it would have to submit a new application to the board at a future date.

absolutely nothing. nada, zip, ziltch. it is what happens though when you post a comment that is contrary to the beliefs of insecure women or what is PC. it was fine for others to post what they would like instead of a White Castle, I see my idea was met w/ some resistance and I'm certainly not going to be pecked at by a few women.

Maybe the franchise should change the name, to keep up with the 21st century. Instead of White Castle, call it Mulatto Bungalow.

A White Castle would bring some local jobs to Brick Especially for the kids trying to make money for college

Brick needs a white Castle. Its not like all the other Fast food places reduce weight. White castle has been around longer than mcdonalds. Arby's tried and failed with their rubbery beef.Time for a change, sliders rock.
