Snooki & JWoww to Film In Toms River?

MTV's "Jersey Shore" spinoff told it can't film at residence

Snooki and JWoww won't be filmed hanging out at home -- at least not at the Toms River residence of one of the two women.

Township Administrator Paul Shives said the township received a request from 495 Productions, the company behind MTV's "Jersey Shore" and its spinoff, "Snooki & JWoww," seeking to film the new show at a residential location.

"The township has an ordinance that prohibits the filming of movies, television shows or commercials in residential areas," Shives said Thursday. "It's a zoning provision."

So the township advised 495 Productions that filming at the residential site -- the home of one of the two stars, Jennifer "JWoww" Farley and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi -- was not permitted under ordinance. The site was not specified.

But, contrary to a report in the Star-Ledger of Newark, Shives said, the township did not ban the show from filming in Toms River. Officials in Point Pleasant Beach have turned down a request from the show to film scenes at businesses on the boardwalk there.

"If they want to film in a commercial area, there's nothing that would prohibit it," Shives said, adding that filming in a commercial area does not require a permit in Toms River. "It's already a permitted activity in a commercial zone."

In fact, "Jersey Shore" at commercial locations in town, including KS Fitness, where some of the cast worked out during the summer of 2010, during the filming of Season 3. Other commercial locations in Toms River that have hosted filming of the show are Rivoli's and Jagged Edge, and other MTV shows have filmed in Toms River schools and other businesses.
